C-TAC Member Spotlight: Healthcare Hospitality Network

Healthcare Hospitality Network (HHN) is a nationwide professional member association with a mission “to support healthcare hospitality homes through connection, education, and advocacy to be more effective in their service to patients and their caregivers”.  Founded in the early 1980s and incorporated in 1986, it is the only professional membership association of its kind. Our members are healthcare hospitality homes that provide lodging and support services to patients and their caregivers who are receiving medical treatment far from their home communities.

HHN advances healthcare hospitality housing on several fronts:

  • Members have opportunities to connect with other board members, staff, and volunteers across the country who are serving similar missions to share best practices, ideas, and support.
  • Monthly “Ask the Expert” webinars, National and Regional conferences, and Member Forums provide our members with training and information focused specifically on helping them to serve their patients and caregivers more effectively and efficiently.
  • The Certified Hospitality Home program distinguishes HHN members that maintain high training standards and follow best practices.
  • HHN members have access to a robust learning management system with over 1600 valuable educational courses to offer continued learning and professional development opportunities for their teams.
  • National Healthcare Hospitality Week, celebrated the third week in July, offers an opportunity to create conversations around the impact of medical lodging and celebrate the work of our healthcare hospitality members.

Advocacy, on a national level, for the interests and awareness of the impact and service provided by healthcare hospitality homes across the country has been a long-term strategic goal for HHN.  While the organization has been successful in providing strong connection and learning programs for our members, they have struggled to make an impact in building a platform of national advocacy with our small staff and busy members.

Finding and partnering with an organization like C-TAC, whose mission aligns with the missions of HHN and our members, is an opportunity for HHN to become a part of the national conversation around patient care and caregiver needs.  HHN sees this as an opportunity to highlight the impact of our HHN members in the patient care continuum and how access to a healthcare hospitality home improves patient outcomes.

As a member of C-TAC, HHN looks forward to the opportunities to share space with other leaders in the healthcare industry that are advocating for equity in access to care and the rights of patients and caregivers as they navigate the healthcare systems.
