The Blog to Transform Advanced Care

Advancing Care through Innovation, Observation and Collaboration.

We are excited to announce that C-TAC Strategic Advisor Cheryl Matheis will be serving as the 2021-2022 Senior Fellow in Advanced Care and Health Policy with the Petrie-Flom Center for Health Law Policy, Biotechnology, and Bioethics at Harvard Law School.

Matheis will serve a key role in the Project on Advanced Care and Health Policy, a collaboration between the Petrie-Flom Center and C-TAC. This initiative studies and fosters development of improved models of care for those with serious illness. Our collaboration applies interdisciplinary analysis to important health law and policy issues raised by the adoption of new, person-centered approaches to serious illness care.

As the Petrie-Flom Center’s Senior Fellow, Matheis will conduct and oversee policy analysis, public engagement, original research and mentoring on legal issues related to changes in serious illness care brought about by forward-thinking care delivery systems and policy makers.

“I’m excited to be taking on this role with the Petrie-Flom Center, says Matheis, “especially at a time when advanced illness has been thrust into the forefront of our consciousness and the opportunities for health policy advancements are multiplying.”

A longtime and pivotal member of the C-TAC team, Matheis is a recognized expert in health care, aging, consumer law and policy. Before joining C-TAC, she served in several high-level positions with AARP for more than 25 years.

“Cheryl is a trusted voice and true changemaker in serious illness care,” says C-TAC Executive Director Jon Broyles. “We’re thrilled to see what she accomplishes as a Senior Fellow and we look forward to continuing our work with the Petrie-Flom Center.”
