The Blog to Transform Advanced Care

Advancing Care through Innovation, Observation and Collaboration.

C-TAC Executive Director Jon Broyles shared the following statement of support for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and the Center for Medicare & Medicaid Innovation as they address the coronavirus outbreak:

“The ongoing spread of the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) is presenting unparalleled challenges for our health care system, particularly for those delivering care for older Americans and those with serious illness. The Coalition to Transform Advanced Care (C-TAC) would like to support the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation in any way that we can.

Our diverse membership, from clinicians to faith leaders, is providing essential care for people with serious illness. This population is considered high-risk because those living with serious illness are more vulnerable to complications as a result of COVID-19. We plan to serve as a conduit for CMS and CMMI to our membership, sharing urgent updates and analysis so that our members can focus on caring for patients.

We would like to continue working with CMMI and CMS in support of policies that connect people with serious illness and their providers with critical resources. CMMI Director Brad Smith has long been a key partner for C-TAC, and we are proud to have worked closely with former CMMI Director Adam Boehler during the development of a new payment model demonstration designed to provide high-quality, person-centered care for those with serious illness. We hope to continue this partnership in support of those who are most vulnerable to COVID-19.

C-TAC applauds the Administration, including CMS and CMMI, for acting quickly to provide much-needed resources and information for those on the front lines of serious illness care. We look forward to working closely with these agencies and our membership for duration of this crisis.”
