Statement from C-TAC Co-Chair Tom Koutsoumpas on the Retirement of US Senator Johnny Isakson

C-TAC would like to extend our immense gratitude to US Senator Johnny Isakson, who announced he will be resigning at the end of the year, for his extraordinary leadership and commitment to improving the lives of those living with advanced illness and their families. A pioneer for advanced illness care policy, Senator Isakson has for years helped lead the charge on Capitol Hill and beyond to ensure all Americans with serious advanced illness receive care that honors their values and preferences. Throughout his long and decorated political career, Senator Isakson has worked together with other congressional leaders on a number of bipartisan bills to improve access and quality of medical care for some of our country’s most vulnerable patients, including the Patient Choice and Quality Care Act and the CHRONIC Care Act.

C-TAC has been honored to work with Senator Isakson and his extraordinary staff on numerous initiatives over the years. His support of our work and that of our members, and his passion and dedication to implementing innovative advanced care policy has undoubtedly improved the lives of countless individuals, families and communities across the country. Senator Isakson has helped lay the foundation for current and future policymakers to build upon, and we look forward to working with others who will take up his mantle of leadership on advanced illness issues. We thank Senator Isakson for his service and wish him well.
