The Blog to Transform Advanced Care
Advancing Care through Innovation, Observation and Collaboration.
The Coalition to Transform Advanced Care (C-TAC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mark Ganz, President and Chief Executive Officer of Cambia Health Solutions, to its Board of Directors.
“Mark brings deep experience and expertise to our Board. He built Cambia with empathy and great leadership, and he will help immensely with our mission to ensure that all Americans with advanced illness receive high-quality, person-centered care,” C-TAC co-chair and co-founder Bill Novelli said.
Since 2003, Ganz has served as President and CEO of Cambia Health Solutions, an organization dedicated to transforming the way people experience health care. Cambia is a family of more than 20 companies focused on creating a person-focused and economically sustainable system for all, including companies like HealthSparq and MedSavvy that bring cost and quality transparency to health care consumers.
Cambia has also made improving the health care experience for people with serious illness and their caregivers a top priority, deploying every asset of its company to make that happen – with a holistic approach to advancing palliative care across its Foundation, health plans, strategic investments and technology innovations.
Under Mark’s leadership, Cambia established the Cambia Health Foundation, which has steadily and purposefully invested more than $31M to advance palliative care awareness and increase access by building workforce capacity and leadership development. Cambia’s regional health plans now offer what has been called the most comprehensive palliative care benefit program in the country and its strategic investments are helping to improve the way people with serious illness experience health care, while supporting family caregivers.
In addition, Ganz has served as a partner and ally to C-TAC. From the plenary stage at the 2018 C-TAC Summit, Ganz invited others to join Cambia in going “all in” to improve palliative care access for people with serious illness. Later in the Summit, Cambia Health Foundation President Peggy Maguire announced that the Foundation would be launching a collaborative Person-Centered Ecosystem of Serious Illness Care in Oregon.
Ganz received the Governors’ Gold Award in 2013, honoring a lifetime of contributions to Oregon through community service in the areas of health care, economic development and leadership. In 2018, Modern Healthcare named him one of the Top 100 Most Influential People in Healthcare.
“I am pleased to join the C-TAC Board to drive collaboration among diverse partners,” said Mark Ganz, President and CEO Cambia Health Solutions. “C-TAC is well positioned to lead the effort to help all people with serious illness understand palliative care and have access to it in whatever setting is right for them.”
Ganz joins the C-TAC Board of Directors, which currently includes: Co-chair Bill Novelli, professor at Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business and former CEO of AARP; Tom Koutsoumpas, President and CEO, National Partnership for Hospice Innovation; Nancy Brown, CEO, American Heart Association, Jeffrey Burnich, MD, Former Senior Vice President of Medical and Market Networks, Sutter Health; Reverend Dr. Yvonne V.
