The Blog to Transform Advanced Care

Advancing Care through Innovation, Observation and Collaboration.

Partnership, Strategy, and Perspective

Cambia Health Solutions serves as a catalyst to transform health care – to ignite change that is both person-focused and economically sustainable.  As the philanthropic arm of Cambia Health Solutions, Cambia Health Foundation advances this mission through purposeful investments that empower people and transform their healthcare experiences. Sojourns™, our signature program, promotes palliative care to improve the care of people with serious illness and their loved ones.

I first learned of the C-TAC National Summit when Dr. David E. Longnecker, Chief Clinical Innovations Officer of C-TAC, introduced himself to me following an event hosted by the Cambia Health Foundation. The Foundation shared the results of a national consumer research poll we had commissioned, which suggested that Americans wanted more information about and access to palliative care.  Following a panel discussion of our survey findings, David told me that a group of like-minded leaders was forming to transform serious illness care.  I enthusiastically accepted his invitation to attend the first C-TAC National Summit as his guest.

Since that initial encounter, Cambia Health Foundation joined CTAC and I have personally participated in every National Summit to date.  The biggest takeaway for me has been the ability to learn from and collaborate with people who are passionate about improving the care and quality of life for people with serious illness and their families.  Over the years, I’ve shared personal stories and unique perspectives with countless numbers of healthcare professionals, policy makers, consumer advocates, caregivers and palliative care providers.  In bringing together this diverse group of voices, the C-TAC National Summit has unveiled innovative approaches that put people and families at the center of the conversation and drive meaningful change.

Through my attendance of the Summit, I have built strong relationships and I have been inspired to move ideas into action. I look forward to this year’s Summit as another occasion to build new friendships, strengthen existing partnerships and advance ground-breaking strategies that allow people with serious illness and their families to live the best day possible, every single day.
