Member Spotlight: GAPNA

In 1981, a group of gerontological nurse practitioners founded the Gerontological Advanced Practice Nurses Association (GAPNA) to represent the interests of all advanced practice nurses who work with older adults and to provide them with continuing education across the care continuum, including primary, acute, post-acute and long term settings.

The Gerontological Advanced Practice Nurses Association‘s mission is to promote excellence in advanced practice nursing for the well-being of older adults. GAPNA offers its members the support they need to continue their personal and professional growth by hosting cutting-edge conferences on developments in the field, as well as by providing online educational experiences such as webinars and online courses. These tools are meant to enable each member to perform to the fullest scope of their education and potential.

“GAPNA has been an amazing catalyst to my professional career. Through GAPNA, I have been able to network with some of the nation’s leading experts in geriatrics,” said Nikki Davis, MSN, FNP-C, GNP-BC, ACHPN, Regional Vice President of Southeast Clinical Operations for Aspire Health. “I am grateful for all of the opportunities this organization affords nurse practitioners across the country.”

GAPNA also works to increase the role of advanced practice nurses in the care process. By supporting and disseminating research on best practices in gerontology, GAPNA raises the standard of care for all older adults, improving outcomes and care experiences for patients and practitioners alike.

Their strong member base has made the GAPNA the go-to choice for any advanced practice nurse seeking either to reach their personal and professional potential through continuing education, or to network and receive peer support from the most experienced clinicians in gerontology.

Find more information about GAPNA here, and be sure to register for the 36th Annual GAPNA Conference (Oct-4-7).
