Review C-TAC’s policy agenda and how the Coalition is advocating for high-quality, person-centered advanced care at federal and local levels. Using the guidance, feedback, and combined expertise of dozens of experts, thought leaders, and C-TAC member organizations, we have further refined and developed the Agenda and are pleased to present the document in its final form. Moving forward in 2015, the Policy Agenda will help direct our advocacy efforts as a coalition and will be continuously revised and renewed as findings from priority projects such as the Advanced Care Project (ACP) and the Community Action Project (CAP) are released. C-TAC works closely with members of Congress and their staff to raise awareness regarding key issues related to advanced illness and end of life care and serves as a resource in building and developing comprehensive policy reform in this area.
C-TAC was recently a major participant in a roundtable hosted by the Senate Aging Committee Roundtable entitled “Continuing the Conversation: The Role of Health Care Providers in Advance Care Planning”. Five of the six witnesses at the Roundtable were C-TAC members who provided powerful statements in support of advanced care delivery reform for individuals and their families. C-TAC is currently developing a comprehensive federal policy agenda that will serve as a guidebook and tool to support innovative practices in advanced care delivery in America. In pursuit of this policy agenda, the workgroup has identified barriers in current law to improving advanced care delivery, examined those barriers vis-à-vis successful private sector innovations, and produced the following policy reports:
C-TAC Guiding Principles. Produced in the spring of 2012, the workgroup developed an initial set of principles to align and guide the efforts of not just the workgroup, but the entire coalition.
The Policy Framework. Completed in the spring of 2013, this document provides a high-level overview of the challenges and barriers in advanced care delivery that will be addressed in the Policy Agenda.
The Policy Compendium. (Advanced Illness Policy Review: The Landscape for Improving Advanced Illness Care in America). Published in the fall of 2013, this report surveys all of the policy options and legislation offered in the past decade related to advanced illness care and serves as a “compendium” desk reference guide.
The Policy Agenda. (C-TAC is currently developing. More updates to come soon).
