The Blog to Transform Advanced Care
Advancing Care through Innovation, Observation and Collaboration.
This week, President Trump signed the Recognize, Assist, Include, Support and Engage (RAISE) Family Caregivers Act into law. C-TAC applauds the enactment of this important legislation and looks forward to working with the U.S Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to implement its provisions.
The RAISE Family Caregivers Act was sponsored by Senators Susan Collins (R-ME), Tammy Baldwin (D-WI), Lisa Murkowski (D-AK), and Michael Bennet (D-CO), along with Representatives Gregg Harper (R-MS), Kathy Castor (D-FL), Lujan Grisham (D-NM) and Diane Black (R-TN). The law requires the HHS to develop, maintain, and keep updated a National Family Caregiving Strategy that will offer resources and educational opportunities to family caregivers across the United States. The National Family Caregiving Strategy will be developed by the HHS in consultation with a new Family Caregiving Advisory Council.
This law advances C-TAC’s mission to support family caregivers, a crucial part of the healthcare system. We applaud the leadership of Congress, AARP, and the dozens of stakeholders and C-TAC members who contributed to this legislation’s enactment.
